As K-12 Classrooms Go High-Tech. Colleges Get More Virtual

Sevil Omer and Devin Coldewey explain how mainstream technology and the internet is becoming for many tasks. He even suggests that college campuses may be eliminated entirely. Many schools are trying web-based learning and replacing the paper and pencil for an iPad. At Cathedral High School, students entering the 2012-2013 school year were required to purchase iPads. Those who did not have enough money to do so could get discounts and scholarships to purchase them. This transition of technology, however is going to be a slow process because of the lack of funding. Educators believe that tablets are great ways for children to learn and makes teaching easier. Schools are also beginning to use telepresence classrooms that allow students to be video-linked to classrooms throughout the area. Many believe that with the growing costs of tuition and college dorms,  universities online would be greatly beneficial. It would however, cut out the college or dorm experience. Though the changes will take a while, there is no doubt that changes will occur.
